Chelsea Eckelkamp & Erica Sartorio

Chelsea  Eckelkamp, OTR/L graduated from the University of Southern California in 2010 with her Master’s Degree  in Occupational Therapy. She also holds a Bachelor’s in Exercise Science. Currently, Chelsea works for Georgia Hand, Shoulder, and Elbow and isdriving their outcome measure efforts as well as chair for their 2013 and 2014 continuing education conferences. In 2012, Chelsea was a guest panel discussion speaker for ‘Complex Injuries: Zone 5-7’ during Georgia Hand, Shoulder & Elbow’s “Everything Extension” continuing education conference. In 2013, she spoke on Elbow Osteokinematics during the national “Elusive Elbow” conference.


Erica Williams Sartorio, OTR/L, graduated from the Medical College of Georgia in 2008 with a Master’s Degree in  Occupational Therapy.  She has worked for Georgia Hand, Shoulder, and Elbow since graduation where she is currently the Student Fieldwork Coordinator.  Erica served as the chairman of the Georgia Hand, Shoulder, and Elbow 2011 conference, “Flexor Tendon: From Repair to Rehab”  continuing education course and 2012 “Everything Extension” continuing education conference as well as co-chair for the 2013 and 2014 courses.

Vanessa Franco

 Vanessa C. Franco was born in São Paulo, Brazil, where she received her degree in Occupational Therapy from one of the most prestigious universities in the country, the University of São Paulo (U S  P) in 1996. She has been in Atlanta since 1999, and has practiced in many different settings, including inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, clinical research, and wound care. Vanessa received her certification as CWS (Certified Wound Specialist) from the American Board of Wound Management in 2010. She has been working at Peachtree Orthopedics since 2011. Her main areas of practice and interest are orthopedics (hands) and wound healing. She enjoys gardening, hiking, and studying.




Dorie Sokol

Dorie Sokol, MS, OT, CHT is presently the hand therapy program director for Physiotherapy Associates in Atlanta.  She was accepted into the American Society of Hand Therapists in 1986 and became a CHT in 1991.  She has over 30 years experience in occupational therapy in both acute care and hand therapy.  She has taught modality and hand therapy courses on a national basis for 20 years and was a member of the committee responsible for developing and defining the law for modality certification in Georgia.  Dorie co-authored a chapter on modalities in Catherine Trombly’s Physical Dysfunction in Occupational Therapy, and chapters on hand therapy and brachial plexus injuries in 2 different physical therapy textbooks.  She has taught    at North Georgia College, Emory University, Brenau University and Chattahoochee Technical College.



 Jennifer DeYoung

Jennifer DeYoung, MOT, OTR/L, CHT received her Masters in Occupational Therapy in 1996 from Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, CA. She moved to Atlanta in 2000 and became a CHT in 2002. From 2001-2003, she served as Newsletter Chair for GHUESIG. Enhancing her hand therapy career, Jennifer co-authored a chapter in AOTA’s 1997 Self-Paced Clinical Course Hands On: Practical Interventions for the Hand, performed ergonomic consultations for UC Berkeley and local businesses, and has served as a lecturer on Understanding the Hand for DeRoyal’s Orthotic Fitter Certification course in Atlanta and throughout the Eastern US. Additionally, she broadened her medical business experience by working as a medical device sales specialist. Jennifer works for BenchMark Physical Therapy in Canton.
